Ask Joshua - How two different styles can work to create your personal style.

Hi Joshua,

My fiancé and I are planning to get married next year and so we are planning to move in together soon. The problem is we have two very different styles. My fiancé’ style is minimalism and my style is glamour. We’re prepared to do some shopping for new furniture and accessories that work best for both of us. I’m just a little bit at a loss how to merge our different styles so it doesn’t look like a bunch of random stuff thrown together.

Hi Amy,

Congratulations on your engagement and your upcoming move; that’s very exciting. I totally understand the challenge of merging two different styles into something that works for both people; but it is possible. I found an inspiration photo, which is shown above, that is a good representation both of minimalism and glamour styles merged together. The trick is making careful decision on some large glam pieces, but keeping the whole look tailored and minimal without adding extra stuff to keep the minimal side happy.
