Featured Kitchen E-design Projects

In the past year, I’ve been working with a number of e-design clients coming up with design plans for their kitchen projects. Kitchens are one of my favorite rooms to work on, so I’ve been really having a blast! I especially love it when clients want something very different or unique instead of doing cookie cutter type of kitchens. I want to share my top five favorite kitchen proejcts I’ve worked on in the past year.

Country Style Kitchen. Rendered by Stuccco.

This kitchen project is actually my most recent. I worked with a super fun client that had inherited their parents’ house and wanted to update the kitchen. They requested it keep an aged look, adding character to the house, without it looking too modern or brand new. We mostly kept the original layout but moved the kitchen sink location to center it on the beautiful windows and changed it to an apron sink. The kitchen island was redesigned to make it more functional and seat their five children while their parents prepare meals. We also changed some of the cabinetry design and the backsplash tiles. This kitchen project is a bit different than what I usually work with but it’s definitely one of my top favorite kitchen projects.

Scandinavian Style Kitchen

I worked with a couple that are huge fans of Scandinavian design and wanted to have it for their home. We worked together to get that look and feel they were aiming for while also improving the functionality of their kitchen. The biggest challenge was their desire to add an island but it would have taken away their dining space or encroached upon their living room open concept space too much. Part of design is also knowing what you can’t simply do right. Given the overall house design and due to the limited space - we had to abandon the kitchen island idea but we added some more cabinets to meet their storage needs that an island would also have provided. Since the dining space is so integrated into the space, we had to update that as well. I am obsessed with those gorgeous windows that makes the space feel more grand.

Mediterranean Style Kitchen

Each kitchen design is unique and can often be a challenge due to limited space or an unusual layout that I can’t change or do much with. A couple wanted a modern Mediterranean inspired kitchen design that would stay true to their house character. Their original kitchen was much smaller than what’s shown in this 3D rendering. We removed a wall to expand the space and added a kitchen island. We decided to do a three tone design including dark blue, white, and wood cabinetry to balance the overall kitchen look and make it charming.

Mix of Industrial and Mid-Century Style Kitchen

When it comes to building a brand new house, it’s important to come up with a full design plan to avoid potentially costly mistakes or fixes later. On this project, I’m working with a client for a brand new house. This kitchen is probably the largest kitchen space I’ve designed for in my almost nine years interior design career. The client wanted to have a mix of industrial and mid century modern styles throughout the house. The beverage station with suspended shelves for drinkware and built-in ice maker and wine cooler provides the functionality they need for their love of entertaining. I totally dig this kitchen look!

Mid-Century Modern Style Kitchen

Since the kitchen is the most important room of the home, it is a significant contributor to adding home value. I worked with a client in a Mid-Century style ranch home with a small and awkward kitchen that wasn’t working for them at all. They decided for a big investment in the house and built an addition to provide the kitchen a much larger space and brought me on to make sure it was functional but also a “wow” kind of space for when they entertain. I came up with this mid-century design, on the sleek side. The client wanted to have large windows that followed the roof line and wanted to keep the kitchen as open as possible but were concerned about storage. These floating shelves overs the windows was the solution!

As you can see, I’ve been truly enjoying working with my clients in designing their kitchens. If you’re feeling inspired and need my help to design your kitchen, please get in touch with us here.
