Introducing ‘Abstract’: My Bold New Pattern Design Series

Over the past few months, I’ve been working off and on my latest pattern design series: Abstract. This collection features five unique pattern designs, each available in a variety of color options and sizes. Some designs are soft and subtle, while others make a bold statement with striking patterns and vibrant hues. In this post, I’ll share the inspiration behind several of the designs and explain the creative process. While this is an abstract pattern series at its core, the designs are versatile enough to complement a wide range of interior styles—including coastal, tribal, bohemian, modern organic, Scandinavian, and more.

Over the years, while working on virtual interior design projects that involved wallpaper, I often struggled to find the perfect fit for my clients' spaces. When I couldn’t find exactly what I envisioned, I started creating my own pattern designs instead. These designs reflect what I’d personally love to use in future projects—and now, they’re available for anyone who loves these patterns as much as I do.

Stacked Layers

I love using grasscloth wallpaper for clients who appreciate a high-end look or want to bring subtle texture into their space. However, I often struggled to find the exact color combinations I had in mind—many grasscloth wallpapers were either missing the right shade or didn’t offer two-tone options. That challenge inspired me to create Stacked Layers, a pattern featuring thin, paintbrush-like strokes that blend two different colors. Some variations are bold and vibrant, while others offer a soft, understated feel. Although this design was originally created with grasscloth-style wallpaper in mind, it also works beautifully with other wallpaper materials—and it's available in fabric options too.

Wood Grain

I wanted to create something fun, unique, and unexpected—something that could be both bold and subtle at the same time. That’s how the Wood Grain pattern came to life. Inspired by natural wood textures, I reimagined the organic grain in an abstract way to make a statement. Some versions feature two-tone color palettes, while others include up to four colors, offering a wide range of moods and styles. Depending on the color combination, this pattern is a perfect fit for bohemian, tribal, mid-century, Scandinavian, modern, and contemporary interiors.

Unlike my other designs, I decided to go all-in with bold and playful color options for Wood Grain, knowing that some people love making a dramatic statement in their spaces. This pattern is available not only as wallpaper but also as fabric—giving you the freedom to get creative, whether you’re making a funky dress or bold home decor accents. It’s also available in four sizes: small, medium, large, and extra-large.

Winding Roads

I’ve always been a big fan of continuous paintbrush strokes—those never-ending, flowing patterns that feel organic and expressive. That inspiration led me to create Winding Roads, a bold abstract design with fluid movement and a strong visual presence. This pattern works beautifully with a variety of interior styles, including modern organic, tribal, bohemian, Scandinavian, eclectic, and modern aesthetics. It’s available in neutral color palettes that still make a bold impact.

Winding Roads is offered in both wallpaper and fabric, giving you versatile options for styling. It also comes in four different sizes—small, medium, large, and extra-large—so you can find the right scale for your project.

Tetris

Who doesn’t love a good game of Tetris? Over the years, I’ve had a few clients who were big fans of the game and wanted a Tetris-inspired pattern for their spaces. However, most of the designs I found online leaned heavily into the classic game look—fun, but not quite right for the elegant interiors we were designing. That challenge inspired me to create my own version: a Tetris pattern that feels modern, upscale, and stylish.

Unlike my other designs, I intentionally limited the color options for Tetris to keep the look refined. I envisioned this pattern in gold-on-gold or silver-on-silver metallic wallpapers, perfect for creating a luxurious, modern glam atmosphere. Tetris is available in two sizes and is also offered in fabric, giving you stylish flexibility for wallpaper or textile applications.

Wave Paint Brush Stroke

I’ve always been obsessed with paintbrush strokes, especially the kind that flow continuously without interruption. That passion led me to create the Wave Paint Brush Stroke pattern—a fluid, abstract design that captures the graceful movement of brushwork in a wave-like rhythm. It’s a versatile choice that pairs beautifully with design styles such as modern organic, Scandinavian, bohemian, modern, and eclectic.

This pattern is available in soft, neutral color palettes that enhance its subtle yet expressive quality, making it easy to layer with other design elements. Wave Paint Brush Stroke comes in three sizes and is also offered in fabric, giving you the flexibility to use it across various applications.

I’m already working on the next series of pattern designs and hope to release them within the next month or two—depending on how things come together. Each new collection is a reflection of the ideas I wish existed in the design world, and I can’t wait to share what’s coming next. When they’re ready, I’ll be sure to announce it here and on my social media channels.

In the meantime, you can find select designs from the Abstract series featured on journals available in my Etsy shop. I’m also planning to expand the product line with more goods featuring these patterns—so if you love the look, keep an eye out for new drops soon. Whether you’re a fellow designer, a pattern lover, or someone who simply appreciates stylish details, I hope these designs inspire creativity in your space and beyond.
