Magnolia Market & Magnolia Home in Waco: A Designer’s Honest Review + Favorite Finds
I just got back from a trip to Texas to visit my parents and relatives — my first time seeing them since they moved there about four years ago. During my early interior design career, many of my virtual clients requested modern farmhouse style, which was wildly popular at the time thanks to Chip and Joanna Gaines and their hit HGTV show Fixer Upper. That period not only shaped my design work but also helped launch my virtual interior design career.
Since Waco isn’t far from the Dallas area, I decided to use this trip as an opportunity to finally visit the Magnolia Market at the Silos — a place I’ve heard about for years. I even remember watching the episode of Fixer Upper when Chip and Joanna bought the old cement plant and transformed it into what has now become an iconic destination that reflects their brand and lifestyle.
In this blog post, I’ll share my honest thoughts about Magnolia Market and Magnolia Home from a designer’s perspective, along with my favorite spots, experiences, and finds that stood out during my visit.

First Impressions of Magnolia Market at the Silos
Since Magnolia Market is famous for its iconic silos, I knew that would be the first thing I looked for when we arrived in Waco. As my parents and I drove closer, the silos came into view — exactly as I remembered seeing them on Fixer Upper and in countless photos across social media.
What truly surprised me, though, was the scale of the entire property. Once we walked past the silos, I realized that Magnolia Market at the Silos is much bigger than I expected. It’s not just a shop; it’s a full destination with a variety of retail spaces, a chapel, food trucks, a bakery, Magnolia Press coffee shop, and even a beautiful park for visitors to relax.
Before visiting, I assumed I’d spend maybe an hour, or at most an hour and a half, exploring. Instead, I ended up staying closer to three or four hours — and honestly, I could have lingered even longer. I really appreciated how the layout is designed to spread out the crowds so visitors can enjoy each space at their own pace, whether shopping, eating, or just soaking in the atmosphere.

Shops at the Magnolia Market
As we walked around the property, I was delighted to see several small, charming shops tucked along the lawn in front of the chapel. Each shop has its own personality, yet they all stay true to Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia brand. Some of the shops included the Holiday Shop, Wknd, Souvenir Shop, The Art of Entertaining, No. 16, and Vie Bien Aimée at the Silos.
Each one offered something unique, from seasonal décor to lifestyle items, making it fun to browse and discover. The shop that stood out the most for me was The Art of Entertaining. As a designer, I couldn’t help but admire the gorgeous plates, elegant serveware, and thoughtful tabletop decorations. It was inspiring to see how beautifully everything was displayed, and it sparked ideas for how those pieces could bring warmth and style to gatherings at home.

The Park at Magnolia Market
As we walked around the grounds, we couldn’t help but admire the beautiful landscaping throughout the property. One detail I especially loved was the use of cement tiles with turf grass in between, creating a stylish yet relaxed look in certain areas. It’s a clever design touch that felt true to the Magnolia aesthetic.
I also appreciated how thoughtful the layout was for visitors. There were plenty of trees and pergolas to provide shade, which was much needed since it was about 86 degrees the day we visited. The park area also features food trucks parked nearby, adding to the community vibe. While we didn’t get a chance to try them this time, the variety of options looked inviting.
Scattered across the lawn were picnic tables with black-and-white striped canopies, giving people a comfortable place to sit, eat, or simply relax. It added a casual charm and made the whole area feel welcoming — the kind of spot where you could easily spend an afternoon.

The Chapel at Magnolia Market
Near the small shops I mentioned earlier sits a charming historic chapel that quickly became one of my favorite stops on the property. When we stepped inside, I was struck by how beautiful it was — from the detailed wood beams on the ceiling to the curved wooden pews, which I had never seen before. The craftsmanship felt timeless and gave the space a warm, peaceful atmosphere.
I learned that this chapel wasn’t originally built on the Magnolia property. Instead, it was carefully moved from another part of the Waco area and then fully restored. Knowing it dates back to the late 19th century makes it even more special. Chip and Joanna’s team did a truly amazing job bringing it back to life while preserving its history.
If you visit Magnolia Market at the Silos, I highly recommend taking a few minutes to step inside the chapel. It’s a quiet, beautiful place that balances perfectly with the energy of the shops and park just outside.

Magnolia Home in Waco
And finally, I made my way into Magnolia Home — the stop I had been looking forward to the most. As an interior designer, I was especially excited to see the furniture in person and test the quality so I can make more confident recommendations to my clients.
The first thing I noticed was how cozy and inviting the showroom felt. Unlike some furniture stores that can feel overwhelming or cramped, Magnolia Home was thoughtfully laid out, making it easy to walk through and get inspired. The store featured showroom setups for living rooms, bedrooms, and dining spaces, each styled with that signature Magnolia touch. During my visit, the spaces were accented with fall decorations, adding a warm seasonal vibe I really enjoyed.
What impressed me most is that many of the pieces aren’t limited strictly to the modern farmhouse style. While Magnolia is known for that look, I found several items that would work beautifully in a range of design styles — from transitional to modern organic. It showed me that Magnolia Home can appeal to a variety of tastes beyond just farmhouse fans.

Magnolia Press Coffee Shop
After leaving Magnolia Home, my parents suggested we stop by Magnolia Press, the on-site coffee shop. Since it was such a hot day, I was more than happy to go along — I was definitely ready for something cold and refreshing.
The moment we stepped inside, I was surprised by just how big and beautiful the coffee shop was. The design felt warm and welcoming, but also spacious — much larger than I expected. It’s the kind of place where you could easily settle in for a while, whether to meet friends or just take a break from exploring the property.
We ordered iced mocha lattes, and let me tell you — it was hands down the best iced mocha latte I’ve ever had. I’m honestly obsessed with that drink now, and I’m determined to figure out how to recreate it at home. (Seattle coffee shops, if you’re listening — take notes!)
If you’re planning a visit to the Silos, I can’t recommend Magnolia Press enough. And if you’re a fan of iced mocha lattes, this will be a must-try treat.

Before we wrapped up our visit, we couldn’t leave without stopping at the Silos Baking Co., the charming little bakery located right next to the iconic silos. From the outside, it has that cozy Magnolia charm, and stepping inside, you can immediately feel the character and personality of the space.
We decided to pick up a variety of cookies to enjoy later in the day. When we finally sat down to try them, we were not disappointed — every bite was delicious. As someone married to a pastry chef, I have pretty high standards when it comes to baked goods, and I was genuinely impressed.
If you have a sweet tooth, this bakery is absolutely worth the stop. Whether you’re grabbing something to snack on while exploring the property or saving treats for later, Silos Baking Co. is a must-visit for any Magnolia Market trip.
