Modern Rustic Living Room

This latest Joshua’s Top Picks design was inspired by Scandinavian style with a modern rustic vibe. I’ve selected pieces that lend an organic feel with rustic looking woods, heavily textured fabrics, and mixed metals. I absolutely love the low-slung accent chair from Lulu and Georgia with it’s look of weathered wood and comfy cushions. One of my favorite things to do recently is layering a patterned rug on top of a larger natural jute rug to frame it; it really grounds the space.

You can’t go wrong with neutral colors and then get a little fun with adding some twists, such as painting the back wall of shelving, as we did here in black. Add some pops of colors with some decor or pillows. It’s pretty low key in this design, but it’s a low-risk way of playing with colors and patterns that you may be wary of on larger pieces and really help enliven the space with interest.
